Hello, I'd like to repay my shareholder loan from my company bank account. Can you please tell me how to do this?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, chrispotvin,

Keeping on top of your loan payments is another facet of making sure your business's books are in order and I can appreciate wanting to get the details just right. I'll go over this for you to make sure you're able to get the information you need for recording this kind of transaction.

QuickBooks Online has the option to record a wide variety of transactions. At this time, it doesn't have a built-in feature or set method for recording shareholder loans or their repayments. Some of it is going to depend on how you recorded the loan in the first place. For instance, if you used steps from one of the following articles, they also include the method for recording the repayment.

Both mention recording loan repayments as cheques, but if you're not certain if that's right for your needs, I recommend consulting an accountant. An accountant has the knowledge and training to know how to properly handle these kinds of situations and will be able to ensure you're meeting the requirements for your business type.

If you're already working with an accountant, you can even connect them to your QuickBooks Online account as a user via the My Accountant tab. This gives them specialized access and the tools they need to work with you directly in your books. That same tab also includes the Find a pro to help button for when you don't already have someone you're working with. The button links to out database where you can search for QuickBooks-certified accountants near you.

I hope that helps!
