I accidentally selected USD as Home currency while setting up multiple currencies

Hey. I am using Quickbooks premier accountant edition. I accidentally changed my home currency to USD while setting up multiple currencies. Now all my transactions and banks in QB shows USD instead of CAD. is there a way to undo it? because i have a backup file too but it is also after the mistake happened, so i can't find my way back.

I accidentally selected USD as Home currency while setting up multiple currencies

Hi there,

QuickBooks Desktop is an all-in-one solution for your business bookkeeping. Conducting business in foreign currencies is a normal part of today's world, and it's important that you have the option to use USD for some of your bookkeeping tasks. If you've accidentally selected USD as your Home Currency upon setup, I'd be happy to provide the options available in order to resolve this.

Once a Home Currency has been selected, it can't be changed. Don't worry, though. There's a few options you can try in order to get this fixed and ensure you're using CAD as your Home Currency.

The first option would be to restore your company to the most recent backup before the Home Currency was selected as USD. Here's how to do that: Restore a backup of your company file.

If you didn't create a backup prior to selected USD as your Home Currency, you can open a new company file and transfer over lists such as customers, vendors, and accounts. That way, you can select CAD as the Home Currency and ensure all those lists are recorded with the proper currency.

To do that, click File > New company from existing company file, then select the company file you want to create the new one from. Make sure the company file you're making a copy of is closed first.

I hope one of these options will help you get back on track. Here's more information about using Multicurrency in case you need it moving forward: Set up and use Multicurrency.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to touch base with our tech support team.

Cheers.

I would agree to create a new company file as mentioned by AddieC. You may utilize a 3rd party tool to export all of your transactions data out from old file to XLS, modify/correct the amount if required, then import them into your new file.
