I get the following message when trying to set up payroll: "Sorry, we have encountered a problem! Something went wrong. Please try again."

We are a seasonal business and have subscribed to quickbooks online at the beginning of the year. We are just now opening for business in May and setting up payroll just now but I get : "Sorry, we have encountered a problem! Something went wrong. Please try again."

Thank you for reaching out here. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool used to help get your employees paid correctly. It is important that QuickBooks Payroll is set up properly to ensure your employees are getting paid for the hours they worked. I can provide some information about setting up QuickBooks Payroll.

 

It may be browsing data on your system that is preventing the software from doing what it is supposed to do and causing the error message you're seeing. Here are some steps to resolve issues that are caused by browsing data:

 

If you are still getting this error message when trying to set up QuickBooks Payroll, I recommend reaching out to the support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to verify your account details as well as view your screen to see what may be causing the error message to appear. You can reach out to them using one of these methods:

 

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

Thanks! I have already tried all of that and It hasn't fixed it.

Having a Horrible time trying to get help from QB Support

Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser. Otherwise, switch to a 3rd party payroll app to integrate with QB.

It's essential that you're able to set up QuickBooks Online Payroll without delay, to ensure you're able to pay your staff on time.  The error you've received can happen when you've subscribed to QuickBooks through the app store.  To resolve the issue, I encourage you to contact our Customer Care team at 1-855-253-1536 from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 AM and 8 PM EST.  With your consent, they will be able to assist you with transferring your subscription and billing to Intuit, and ensure you're able to proceed with Payroll.  In addition, they can schedule you for a free onboarding session with our Payroll specialists.
