vacation percentage correction and accrued vacation pay correction

I have a client who discovered that one of her employees was at the wrong vacation percentage of 6% instead of 4%. So we have to change the vacation percentage to 4 %. But now we wonder how to adjust the accrued vacation amount, so it reflects 4 % instead of 6%. The employee agrees with the adjustment. But we are wondering how to do it.

vacation percentage correction and accrued vacation pay correction

Hi there usergwendydonegani,

It's vital that all your payroll information is entered correctly so that your payroll totals can be accurate. QuickBooks Online payroll is a great tool able to help you with paying your employees for their hours worked. I can point you in the right direction for help with editing payroll.

In order to have your previous paycheques edited to reflect another rate for vacation, you'd need to reach out to the QuickBooks Online support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to verify your account details in a secure setting in order to send you a file to fill out so they can send it to the pay edit team. You can reach out to them using these steps:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.

vacation percentage correction and accrued vacation pay correction

It is possible to change the Vacation Accrual rate MOVING FORWARD in the employee profile. It is contrary to CRA Regulation and Labour Standards to recover overpaid vacation amounts. Overpaid amounts are considered a Bonus to the employee who has actually paid income tax on the amount. Please check the CRA Regulations regarding this subject.
