Why is CPP not being deducted from one of our employees, when all the others are - even after the minimum salary amount is reached.

Hello,

Deducting CPP (Canada Pension Plan) from your employee's pay is an important step in your payroll process. When things don't appear as expected, it's always a good idea to clarify the potential reasons why. I'd be happy to shed some light on this for you.

There's various reasons why CPP may not be calculating on your employees pay. First, ensure the employee is between the ages of 18 and 69 years old. Additionally, you may have reached your CPP maximum for this particular employee for the year.

Take a look at these helpful articles from the CRA to find even more information regarding CPP and exemptions:

If you've covered all possible variables as to why this employee may be exempt from CPP and you're still unsure, please reach out to our tech support team at 855-253-1536. Agents are available from Monday - Friday, 9am - 8pm EST, and Saturdays from 9am - 6:30pm EST. I'm confident they'll get down to the bottom of this for you.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers.
