Do I include my route from home to work as a business expense or would it be from my work to the client zone?

Hello tanishamariegt-g,

QuickBooks Self-Employed's mileage tracker is designed to keep logging your trips as easy as possible, and it sounds like you're about to get started with this feature. I hope it meets your needs and that it'll make your bookkeeping that much simpler! I'll go over this with you.

Logging trips is important, but so is knowing how to log them. It's good to see you're checking up on this before you have to go back and make corrections later. To learn what the starting and ending points of your trips are, I recommend checking in with the CRA. The CRA website, for instance, has resources for self-employed individuals that may get you on track with figuring this out. Here's one I found to get you started: Motor vehicle records

If you're still not sure, it may be worth contacting the CRA directly or touching base with an accountant. That way, you can be sure you have knowledgeable advice to back the way you're entering your data. Other users here in the QuickBooks Community may chime in as well, so keep an eye out for that!

Here are some Community articles about the mileage tracking options for QuickBooks Self-Employed, just so you have them for reference

Wishing you the best with your business and your mileage tracking! Don't hesitate to stop by again with more questions. :)
