Gifts in Kind for Charities

How do I set up and record gifts in kind to a charity so that I can issue a tax receipt and accurately report the income and where it goes? I found an article about how to do it in QB online but I use the desktop premeir 202 which has different ioptions.

It's great that you've already done some research into how to record in-kind donations in QuickBooks Desktop. You're right, there is an article for how to do this in QuickBooks Online and the options available in QuickBooks Desktop are different. That's okay, you should still be able to use the same principles in QuickBooks Desktop. It'll just take modifying the instructions slightly to accomodate what you need for your software.

 

The steps basically involve creating specific account types, an item, then sales receipts and bills. Instead of the QuickBooks Online steps, think of the QuickBooks Desktop steps instead. I've got some articles to help working through the chart of accounts and different transaction types.
