PAYROLL

Is the E.I "FACTOR" in the payroll set up for Ontario still at 1.4?  I read somewhere that it changed to 1.58 for the Employee rate and Employer is now 2.21?  Do I have to manually change it in Quickbooks desktop?

Hello again Milo123,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I know how important it is that your payroll calculations are correct, and I want to ensure that this is looked into so that you have the correct rates in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Our goal with QuickBooks Desktop Payroll is to keep things simple for you when it comes to running payroll. One of the ways that we do this is by ensuring that the payroll tax tables are updated as the CRA releases updates so that you can continue on with your work. The first thing I recommend is ensuring that you're using the 2021 edition of the software so that you have access to the latest tax tables. The tax tables, released in June, aren't available in 2020 or prior years of the software, so having the 2021 edition is a key place to begin.

If you aren't yet on the 2021 edition of the software but have a subscription, upgrading will come at no additional cost. You should have received your 2021 license information in September 2020 when it was initially released. Don't worry if you can't find it though. Our technical support team can help you get the license information you need.

In the event you're already on the 2021 edition of the software and you're still not seeing the correct numbers, I recommend connecting with a member of our support team to go over this. It'll help to discuss your situation and take a closer look to see why things aren't as you're expecting.
