Relying stock level of one item based on quantity available of a 'master' item

Is there a way on QB Enterprise that enables me to have the stock level of one item, rely on the stock level of another item.

For example,

'Fabric Roll-A10' contains a total quantity of 10 units in stock (This serves as the 'master' item)

'Fabric Roll-AA15' is made up of 15 units of 'Fabric Roll-A1' (This should show as out of stock since 15>10)

'Fabric Roll-AA8' is made up of 8 units of 'Fabric Roll-A1' (I want this to show as in stock or 1 unit available since 8<10)

We currently have this product listed on Amazon and we are using TrueCommerce as a bridge to connect our QB with Amazon so we do not manually enter quantity levels and any sales orders we obtain. The downside is that Amazon does not have a field that allows users to input a custom length. Rather each item must be offered to Amazon customers as a fixed length, so we decided to register items of various lengths in QB to be reflected on Amazon. Now I need a way of reflecting the stock levels in an accurate way depending on how many units of the 'master' item we have available.

Relying stock level of one item based on quantity available of a 'master' item

Hello Romi,

Thanks for the details of what you're hoping to achieve in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. It's important to me that you're able to get a solid answer one way or the other about what you're looking to do, so it may be worth a call in to explain in more detail what you're looking for.

Based on what you've described here, it sounds like you may be looking at creating assembly items. Assembly items are products and services that are made up of other products and services in your system. Take a look at the Item Types drop down in the follow article to learn more: Add, edit, and delete items

As an Enterprise user, you can also take a look at the Advanced Inventory add on to see if the option you're looking for is available. Learn about that feature here: Set up Advanced Inventory

One of the awesome things about QuickBooks Enterprise is support costs are included in your subscription rate. Here's how you can get in touch: dial 1-877-772-9158 from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET. Follow the prompts for QuickBooks Desktop and choose Enterprise to connect with an Enterprise agent.

I hope that helps!
