I am trying to follow all the different posting about how to get the necessary data from QBO Canada into TurboTax Business, but I can't even figure out how to first get it into QuickBooks Desktop.
Could someone please post the exact steps to get my accounts and transactions from QBO into the desktop version so I can them export it for TurboTax. At this point I would pay for a third party app if I knew it would work properly. I don't even have that many accounts. I could recreate them by hand, I just need to get the many thousands of transactions across.
If you are using QBO US version, you can convert data to QB Desktop US version and use the trial version to export data to TurboTax. But if you are using QBO CA version, you must purchase a 3rd party service to convert data to QB Desktop CA version. Then you can use the trial version to export data to TurboTax.
You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they can help to convert your data to QB Desktop CA version.
Thanks. I guess I'll be looking for new Accounting software. My needs aren't complex and not being able to export a GIFI or some other format that I can import into the tax software directly is bad enough, but having to pay someone to get it into the desktop version first is nuts. Paying almost $1000/year to use QBO and have it fall so short is ludicrous. Maybe I'll look at an open source alternative and take the savings to have an accountant do the taxes.

You may also consider to purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
Thanks. I won't be paying for conversion every year at tax time. I may consider it for totally moving from QBO to something else, though as I said, I don't have many accounts, just lots of transactions, so I can probably get away with exporting all the transactions from each account and importing them into some other software.
Actually, I may write a conversion program myself. The QBOI and QBDT APIs look pretty straight forward.
If you can convert data from QB Online CA to QB Desktop CA easily, we may purchase your service.
