Year end changed

CRA changed the fiscal year on a client. It tells me to go to my company and click on "Report Information.

When clicking there nothing happens. How do I resolve this?

Year end changed

Welcome back li5,

Making sure you have the correct fiscal year on a company file helps keep things simple when you need to run reports by fiscal year. QuickBooks Desktop has all kinds of these ease-of-use features and I want to make sure you're able to take advantage of this one. I'll help you with sorting this out.

It sounds like you're in the right place since you're seeing the Report Information section on the Company Information window. There are three drop-down menus there that should be clickable, but since you're saying nothing happens when you click, we'll need to troubleshoot.

The first troubleshooting step I would like you to take is to close out of the client file and open a sample company file. This helps us determine if there's something going on with the company file or if it's something with the program we need to look at. Here's how to open a sample file.

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Choose Close Company/Logoff.
  3. Click Open a sample file.
  4. Choose a sample file.

In that file, see if you're able to click the buttons to change the fiscal year information. If you can, then you'll want to go back to the client file to troubleshoot for data damage, which can cause errors like this. Check out this article to learn more: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file

To troubleshoot further with the company file or to work with an agent if there's an issue with the program, learn how to get in touch here: Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies. Please note that due to COVID-19, support hours are currently reduced to Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET for all Desktop products.

Have a great rest of your day!
