Hi there,
Glad to have you connect with us here. It's important you're able to manage your customers with ease in QuickBooks. Don't worry, I'll be happy to provide more info so you can get the resolution you need.
In order to assign a foreign currency to a customer you'd need to be using the Essentials or the Plus subscription plan. With the Plus or the Essentials, you have the flexibility to turn on Multi-currency that then allows you to assign the foreign currency to the customer. Here's a helpful article that provides info on how to set up and use Multi-currency. I also encourage you to check out the following article with more info on how to: Assign a foreign currency to a customer in QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if this info helps. I look forward to hearing back from you.
I already have the multi currency option turned on. I can’t change currency on an existing customer but I can add different currencies for when I create a new customer.
Are you looking to add a new customer with the correct currency then merge that customer with the existing one?
There is no Currency dropdown when I am adding a new customer
Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your concern. I completely understand how frustrating it can be when expected options, like the currency dropdown, do not appear while you’re trying to add a new customer. I want to assure you that I’m here to help you get this sorted out as smoothly as possible.
The currency dropdown you’re looking for will appear only if the multi-currency feature is enabled in your account. This is because the system needs to know that you’re working with multiple currencies before it offers the option to select one. To check this, please navigate to your account settings and confirm that the multi-currency feature is switched on.
Once the currency is enabled, you should see the currency dropdown above the customer information fields when adding a new customer. This allows you to assign a specific currency to each customer, which is particularly useful if you work with clients in different countries or handle payments in various currencies.
If you have already confirmed that multi-currency is turned on but still don’t see the dropdown menu, I recommend logging out of your account completely and logging back in. Doing so refreshes your session and resolves any display issues or setting updates that haven't yet taken effect.
These steps will guide you through adding the currency successfully when creating a new customer. I hope this helps make your process smoother and more efficient. However, if you come across any other questions, difficulties, or concerns while navigating through the system, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. Take care!
