Hi paulamendola,

I'm happy to learn you're taking advantage of our powerful Tag feature offered in QuickBooks Online. I'd be happy to share more information so you can run your Sales by Customer Detail report with ease.

QuickBooks makes it fun and intuitive to run your reports. In order to see the tags on your reports, you'll need to customize your report using the steps below:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Enter the Sales by Customer Type Detail report in the text box.
  3. Select the Customize button.
  4. Under the Rows/Columns section, go to the Change columns drop-down and select the Tag group.
  5. Check the boxes of other aspects you'd like to show in the report.
  6. Select Run report.

It's also important to make sure you created the Tag groups correctly, here's a helpful article which shows you how: Tag transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Here are other helpful article I'd encourage you to check out:

Let me know if this info helps. I'll be here in case you need further assistance with this. Otherwise, have a great rest of the week!

Hi James.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have 2 Tag Groups and 3 tags, with multiple transactions using these Tags. When I follow your steps, I do not see an option to Select a Tag group as you mentioned. I have taken a screenshot of all my options. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks

Glad to hear back from you. I see what you're saying. Using the steps I provided above, could you click on the Group by drop down instead of Change columns on Step #4? Let me know if you're seeing your tags from there. You can also run tag reports and the two tag reports included in QuickBooks are the Profit and Loss by Tag Group and the Transaction List by Tag Group. You can search for these reports by clicking on Reports on the left menu and entering the report name in the search field.

Give this a try and let me know how you make out.

Thanks again for your fast reply. I'm still not able to achieve the report I'm looking for.

I've tagged my sales transactions with "Recurring" or "New".

I've set up 5 Customer Types for the 5 industries we're tracking and did a "batch action" to organize our customers by industry.

I want to see how much Recurring vs. New revenue we're generating from our different industries (Customer Type).

How can I achieve this?

Thank you
