Is it possible to pull in data from Mint (another intuit product) into QB Self-employed? Trying to avoid data islands

Hello userphillipc,

It's great to learn you're maximizing the benefits offered by Intuit. I'll be happy to assist you so you can start transferring your data in no time.

QuickBooks Self-Employed helps you simplify most of the manual calculations involved in your business. In order to transfer data into QB Self-Employed, you'll have to do that manually using the Imports feature. Here's how to do this if you're dealing with transactions:

  1. Open QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser.
  2. Click on Settings ⚙.
  3. Click on Imports.
  4. Navigate to Import older transactions for the account you want to add transactions to.
  5. Select Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank. It's usually in your Downloads folder.
  6. Make sure you select the file and select Open to start the import.
  7. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  8. Click on Continue to complete the import.

Keep in mind that you'll have to import CSV files in order for the data to be read in QB Self-Employed.

It's always wise to double-check the transactions you've imported using the steps below:

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, go to Transactions.
  2. From the Account: All drop-down, select the account.
  3. From the Date drop-down menu, select All.
  4. Select the Date column header to sort the list by date.
  5. Look a few days before and after the original oldest transaction you noted in Step 1. If there are any duplicate transactions, delete the duplicates.

Let me know if this info helps. I'll be one message away in case you need anything else. Otherwise, have a great rest of the week!

This doesn't work, I just get errors.

Hi rockishard,

Being able to move your information between intuit products is a great way to save time and I'd be happy to help go over this with you.

When importing .CSV files into your QuickBooks Self Employed account you first need to make sure that the information is showing in the same format as your company file. If it's not then you will begin to get errors and the import won't work. Should you get errors when importing I suggest looking over the .CSV error log file that gets created so you can correct the errors that it states.

Once the errors are corrected you can follow the steps to import that my colleague provided earlier so you can get your Mint information into your QuickBooks Self Employed account.

Have a great one!
