I know there are different ways QuickBooks Online users like to organize their data, and being able to sort or customize reports in a certain way is another option for doing this. I appreciate you letting me know the report in question here and how your client would like to customize it. I can absolutely shed light on the options available here.
It sounds like both you know your stuff when it comes to reporting in QuickBooks Online, such as being able to add the debit and credit columns to the Transaction Detail by Account report and exporting to Excel to further customize the data. In this case, taking that step to export is the way to go to sort the information by the debits and credits. While these columns can be added to the report, there isn't a way at this time to sort by those columns in QuickBooks Online directly.
