Hello,
Your General Ledger report shows the beginning balance, transactions, and total for each account in your chart of accounts. This is a really helpful report to provide to your accountant, and I'd be happy to explain how easy it is to find it in QuickBooks Online.
All you have to do is click the Reports tab on the left navigation menu, then search for General Ledger in the search bar. You can also look at the "For my accountant" section. If this is a report you're going to use often, you can click the Star next to it to move it to your favourites list at the top of the reports page.
Simple as that! If you have any other questions about the General Ledger, feel free to reach out to our tech support team.
Cheers.
Hi,
I started a new incorporated business last year with a partner. I had a sole proprietor business in the same industry for 10 years prior. I have done my own taxes for pretty much those ten years. But now I need an accountant to do my taxes. Long story short I need to create a general ledger for the accountant so he can do my taxes.
My question is: How do I make a general ledger in Quickbooks for the year 2020? I do want to start using Quickbook for 2021 too but my priority is to figure out how to get my General Ledger together for taxes.
Thanks Brian
Hello Brian. Congratulations on incorporating your business. It sounds like your business is growing and we're happy to be a part of that. I'll be happy to give you a hand with this. To get started, you can view your General Ledger by clicking Reports > search for the General Ledger report. Once you have the report open, you can filter the dates you're looking for and hit search. Here's a helpful article with more info on how to: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online. Feel free to get back to me if you have questions. I've got your back.
