Currently, Canadian Merchant Services systems are designed to process credit cards. VISA and MasterCard offer their own, convenient version of debit cards, but these are subject to different regulations in Canada than in the United States. The Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry in Canada sets the requirement that debit and credit cards be issued as separate payment cards, so it's not recommended to process using QuickBooks Online Payments. To process a payment through QuickBooks Online, please ensure your customer is using a credit card.
