How does my client make a partial payment by credit card? ex, they made a deposit, invoiced for final amount, pay balance.

Hi geraldw,

 

Welcome to Community! Providing your customers an option to pay their invoices using their credit card, is a great opportunity for them to pay their account while on the go.  QuickBooks Payments has a 'pay now' link for accepting customer credit cards.  I'd be happy to help you get started!

 

Here's how to apply for Payments:

 

1. Go to the Invoices menu

2. Select Create invoice

3. Hit Set up Payments and then Set up Payments

4. Complete the forms

5. Follow the onscreen instructions

Note:  To get started using iPhone or Android, repeat the above steps but eliminate step #2.

 

To turn on QuickBooks Payment so customers can pay online, follow these steps:

 

1.Go to Invoices and create a new invoice

2. Select Create invoice

3. Choose Set up payments to begin 

4. Follow the steps, then Activate payments

When payments are received, the invoice is automatically marked as paid. 

 

If you're using another processing service, you'll need to manually record them as paid.  Here's how:

 

1. From the Invoices menu, locate the invoice

2. In the Action column, select Mark as paid

3. Hit Send receipt using the dropdown arrow in the Action column
