Hello Cathy,
I know how important it is to keep your customer's information up-to-date so that you're able to send them invoices in the most efficient way possible. QuickBooks Online makes updating this info simple, but I want to go over why you're not seeing it adjusted when you create a new Invoice through a project.
Since your project was created and saved with your customer's previous email address, a change to their customer profile won't change the email address that's associated with the project. So when you navigate to the Project and add a new Invoice, you're still seeing the customer's previous email address. In order to change it you'll want to manually enter the correct email address into the email field of the Invoice, clearing the previous one out in the process. You'll notice that if you create a new Invoice from the + New button that the new email is populated, so rest assured that the change has been made in the system.
I know that this might slow down your workflow, so I'd like to encourage you to navigate to the Gear icon to submit Feedback. Sharing your thoughts this way ensures that our product developers are aware of the parts of our program that need improving. They'll take your suggestions into consideration when implementing new features and improving existing ones. To keep an eye on what they're adding, check out our New Features page.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. Have a great day!
Thank you for your quick reply. Just to clarify however, if I create a new invoice using +New button or alternatively via the Sales module, then it will show an updated email address but only if I choose the customer name only from the drop down menu and not a project set up within the customer. As soon as I go to the Project level of the customer, any new invoices will bear the email address that was in the customer profile when that project was set up. Does that sound correct? Thanks
Hello again @cathy67. Yes, what you're describing sounds correct. I've tested this in my QuickBooks Online test account and this is the same result that I received. I'm happy to help if you have further questions or need more clarification. Take care!
