It's a good thing to know that your return has been correct at CRA, Jane. QuickBooks Online does not have an option to edit a previously filed GST/HST return.
Since QuickBooks is designed for record-keeping purposes, I recommend manually recording the corrections through a Journal Entry.
Here's how:
- Hover the + Create button and select Journal Entry.
- Enter the adjustments based on the information from the CRA.
- Add a Memo to explain the adjustment.
- Choose the GST/HST account when creating the entry to ensure the transactions are tied to the correct account.
After making the adjustments, review the updated GST report to verify that QuickBooks matches the amended amounts from the CRA.
To ensure accuracy, I suggest consulting an accountant or bookkeeper experienced in Canadian GST compliance for additional guidance.
