Hi Thomas_C,
Thanks for reaching out. QuickBooks Online is a great choice for your accounting needs. The dashboard provides an overview of how your business is doing at a glance. I'd be happy to provide more information for you!
Your QuickBooks dashboard provides shortcuts to the information you need so you can take action on items such as accounts or invoices. The sales tax collected on sales will appear in the sales tax feature. When you open Sales tax from the left menu, you'll see the agencies along with the total of tax collected on sales, how much was paid on purchases and any adjustments that have been made.
Please feel free to reach back out with any other questions. We'd be glad to assist!

Thank you for your answer but perhaps I did not phrase the question properly.
As I am viewing my gross sales figure in dashboard, does that figure still include the HST I have collected on sales? Or, is the tax parsed out of my gross sales?
-Thomas
Glad to hear back from you. The Dashboard section includes all sales recorded within the time-frame specified including the HST collected. It's also important to note that the Dashboard Sales section doesn't include journal entries posted to your sales accounts. I highly recommend taking advantage of the tax reports on your account if you're looking for a more detailed explanation to what makes up the totals on your account. You can find these helpful reports by clicking on the Reports menu on the left navigation menu. Feel free to ask other questions, I'm here to assist.
Hi There;
I can help you answer that! The dashboard is such a great quick resource for all aspects of your business.
All you have to do in your dashboard is click on the green line that shows your income. That will open
P&L (Income Statement) report window. The income shown is your income which does not include the HST. You can also filer by date right on the dashboard screen as well.
I was using QBO for a long time before I realized that all of the colored items in the dashboard are places you can click on to jump to reports or forms to get more info. P&L, expenses, & sales all can filter by date right on this screen.
I encourage you to click around and explore on your own!
Cheers!
