How to delete Sales Tax Installment

Hi, I have a problem deleting the Sales Tax Installment.

Before filing a Sales Tax Return in QBO, I recorded a Sales Tax Installment. The installment amount is deducted from my bank account in QBO. But instead of reducing the Tax Payable account, it is showing up in the Tax Suspense account.

This is not the result I expected and therefore I would like to delete the Tax Installment. However, the Tax Installment is not showing up under "Payment". In fact, I do not see it anywhere on the "Tax" page.  How do I delete it? Would appreciate it if someone has a solution. Thanks.

How to delete Sales Tax Installment

Hi AC68,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online sales tax feature is a valuable part of your books.  filing a return will move the sales tax liability amount from the Payable account to the Suspense account.  When the payment has been recorded, the amount is moved from the Suspense account to the bank account.  However, if you wish to proceed with deleting the installment, I'd be happy to show you how!

Before getting started, I recommend clearing cache on your browser.  This will improve system performance and loading times.  Log back into your QuickBooks Online account and follow these steps to remove the sales tax payment;

1. Open Taxes then Sales Tax

2. Click on the tile for the Agency

3. Select the Payments tab

3. Click on the Filter and use the ▼ dropdown menu to select the Type and Dates

4. Hit Apply

5. Select Delete from the Action column

6. Hit Yes to confirm.
