Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! When you open a QuickBooks Online account, you'll enter your company information. However, you'll still need to set up the sales tax feature so you can complete your business forms with the applicable sales tax rates. Once you've completed these steps, QuickBooks will calculate the sales tax automatically for accurate filing.
Here's how to set up your Sales Tax codes;
1. From the left menu, open Taxes, then Sales tax
2. Click on Manage sales tax and then Add tax
3. Choose the type of tax you want to add and select Add next to one of options and follow the prompts to complete the set up

Once you've completed adding your sales tax codes, you'll see them when creating your forms by using the ▼ dropdown menu in the Sales tax column. In addition, you can set a default tax code to your products and services and save valuable time when creating invoices or sales receipts.
