I have paid GST directly to the CRA prior to using Quickbooks, and I need to record these previously made payments now. How do I do this?

I'd be happy to help record your GST payment in QuickBooks. 

 

If the GST period is not recorded in QuickBooks, you can create an Expense transaction for Tax paid. However, if this GST transaction is already recorded and the period is marked as filed, you can follow the simple steps below.

  1. Choose Filed from the All returns drop-down
  2. Select Record payment from the drop-down in the Action column.
  3. Select the appropriate Payment type. Select Payment if the number is positive.
  4. Enter the Payment date or the date which you paid the CRA. You can use the Memo to include anything you want to remember about this payment.
  5. Once you make the payment, you'll see it in your Account History under the date you recorded the payment.
