I need to edit my invoice to remove the GST component. How do I do this?

Hello useralbrenos,

QuickBooks Self-Employed not only provides the flexibility to manage your business on the go, the program also offers tools and features which make your work easier. The tax module is crucial to many businesses and it's important you're able to remove GST on your invoice.

With QB Self-Employed, you have the option to opt out from applying GST/HST tax to specific invoices in situations where items are GST/HST free as mandated by the government. I recommend reaching out to your accountant for expert advice in order to prevent discrepancies in your books. If you're not in contact with one, I encourage you to search for one on our website using this link here. At this time, you can change the taxes on an invoice and here's how:

  • From the Your work info page: Changing sales tax on this page will not impact draft invoices unless you also change the sales tax on those draft invoices directly.
  • From the Invoice itself: Changing sales tax on the invoice will update the existing/current invoice, but not the Your work info set up.

In the meantime, check out this tax overview article here with more info on how to manage your taxes in QuickBooks. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have questions. I'm here to help.
