Thanks for joining this thread, @simon-owltech-co. Let me chime in and provide some information about the payment option.
QuickBooks Payments is unavailable in the UK version. This is why the payment option on the Account and Settings page doesn't appear.
In QuickBook Online UK version, you can accept payments using PayPal and Credit Card. For more information about this payment method, you can browse and review this resources:
At the moment in the UK version you would need to remove the linked Paypal app if you did not wish to see the option on the invoice for customers to pay that way.
Additionally, let me share this link to guide you accept electronic customer payments for online invoices and in-person sales: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online.
Fill me in if you have further questions about managing invoice payments in QuickBooks Online. I'll be happy to help you in any what that I can.
Thanks for being a part of the QuickBooks family, Twendel.
I'm here to address your concern about disabling the online payments feature.
Once this feature is turned on in QuickBooks Online, there isn't a way to disable it. However, you can manually uncheck the the boxes on the Payments options section while recording the transaction and send it to your customers.
By the time your customers receive their invoices, they should no longer have the ability to pay them online.
You may also send feedback to our product developers regarding this option so that they can develop a way to disable it on their future product revisions. Here's how you can submit your feedback:
1. Click on the Gear Icon at the top of your screen.
2. Choose Feedback on the drop down selection.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any other concerns by commenting below. I'm just a post away. Have a good one!
I am just in shock how QB thinks this is ok. There are so many jacked up things about QB online and their go to answer is to give feedback. This was a suggestion 6 months ago that makes perfect sense and still no update to this function. You are failing your customers quickbooks and giving feedback is a complete waste of time. I wish I would of never chosen you over the other options out there and I believe you know that when people engage your system they just put up with you because of the time and effort it takes to set up accounting software. I can't say enough bad things about QB online
I agree that this is ridiculous. Of course there is a way to turn it off. It's just not available to us users. I'm sure this is an easy fix by your IT Dept. This is extremely inconvenient for us business owners who have so much on our plate as it is. We shouldn't have to worry about "remembering" to turn this feature off "with every single invoice" we send out. I will say that, with the exception of a few minor things which are on another topic, I do enjoy QB Online otherwise!
I am very unhappy about this solution as well.
If you go under Edit, Preferences, Payments, Company Preferences, you can uncheck the box that says Bank Transfer (ACH) and it will turn this option off.
Is there still really no way of permanently disabling the option for customer online payments?
Hi skywerx011, If you are using the Paypal app it will have the option on the invoices in QuickBooks Online it is just a case of not checking the box and then it will not appear for the customer. Do you use the Paypal app for other customers?-Emma
Thank you for the reply, but this does not work in QB Online.
Yes quickly finding out that QB Online won't let us do anything. Thank God they have a complete audit history of EVERY SINGLE CHANGE that is made. My customers love the bombardment of emails when I make a change. Especially while I'm in the learning curve process.
What a disaster this is.
You are clearly not talking about QBO, as this does not make any sense. There is no such navigation/option.
Again, not useful and misleading, as there is no Uncheck/accept ACH option to uncheck listed on the screen.
Sorry about being snarky. I realize people mostly mean well. However, whenever I try to get help for whatever, I come across many links with information that simply does not work. It's a horrible time suck ploughing through all that stuff, trying it, and then it doesn't work. Hours go by that a business owner does not get paid for. With technical support no longer being ready available anywhere, one is able to look at help files like this. I don't know why the answers given mostly do not work. I'm having the issue again: when I try to open your attached screenshot, I thin white line appears on my screen, but there is no screen shot, no handles to expand what might be a visually cropped picture (probably isn't - I'm just trying to describe it.
I just spent all day today troubleshooting and getting no work done, mostly with a printer issue, with this, and now also with 2-factor authentication codes simply not arriving anymore. Worked fine yesterday. I am by no means a technophobe, but entire days lost to nonproductivity is incrediby frustrating.
No worries. I understand completely. Can you see this ?
Nope. Mine looks like this:
I found this article which may help: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/the-online-payment-options-are-not...
I'm just guessing, but maybe you can't see the payment options because the Online Delivery options are not set? Again, I'm guessing.
Here is how I have my Online Delivery options set:
Hi guys,
Here is the link to disable payments. You have to go to All Lists and then navigate from there.
I just started using QB Enterprise. I tried paying a couple of bills (Vendor>Pay Bills) and the pay online window popped up. I tried closing the window and QB locked up and I couldn't do anything. I repeated this twice, wasting a lot of time of course, and each time same result. I've read many of the comments here, searched high and low for a way to turn that function off. If there's a way, I certainly can't find it. Any suggestions short of asking for a refund? I DON'T WANT TO PAY VENDORS ONLINE! Thanks....Jim
Glad to have you here in the Community, @Jim.
I'm here to help turn off the Online Bill Payment option in QuickBooks Desktop.
One of the possible reasons the window popped up to pay online is that the payment method was set to Online Bill Payments. Let's change the payment method to turn off this option. Here's how:
I'm adding this article to learn more about paying bills in QuickBooks Desktop: Pay bills.

I suspect QB gets a cut from every referral, so it is not in their interests to show how to disable their pushing, but it is annoying to have this black box pop up every time I raise an invoice. This is how I (finally) manged to do it:
Click Sales --> Overview --> Setup and where it asks to set up paypal/credit cards etc, tick ''Not now'' and violá pesky little pop up box disappears.
Hello,
I'm brand new to QB Online. My setup does not even have a "Payments" option in the Accounts and setting area and when I try to receive a payment manually, there is no option for Bank Transfer/ACH - just Cash, Cheque, Credit Card, Direct Debit.
I'll stick with my old Accounts package if this not possible.
