Where technology gives time back to do what matters most

For ambitious accounting firms, the greatest cost isn't fees or software - it's a lost opportunity growth. Client data exists, but often trapped in silos and manual processes, it arrives too late.

Insights become historical, advice turns retrospective and the firm's strategic potential is often squeezed by relentless admin. Often, the gap between having data and acting on it is where client trust and growth are won or lost.

For Eriona Barjrakurtaj, Managing Director at Major’s Accounts, a family-owned practice in South East London managing roughly 800 clients, this shift has been a long time coming. “I'm so excited about the Intuit Accountant Suite. It's something that we've been waiting for a long time. I can't wait to get my hands on it,” she says.

Reclaiming time for higher-value work

The traditional model of accountancy is often defined by a transactional, once a year kind of business. Eriona is leading a move away from this, focusing instead on how to work with clients as a strategic guide. “It is really looking at what we can do as a business partner for our clients,” she explains.

The Intuit Accountant Suite is designed to support this evolution by addressing the lack of visibility that many growing firms face as they scale. “One of the challenges that we're going to overcome is having visibility of what's going on in our practice and with our clients. Our entire team will be enabled to act a lot quicker and be more proactive,” Eriona notes.

By making insight accessible across the firm, teams are empowered to act with greater confidence and speed.

The primary barrier to high-value advisory work can often be linked to the volume of admin tasks. Eriona identifies "chasing after things" as the single biggest drain on her firm's resources.

“The most time that they spend is chasing after things and the new AI agents are going to be doing the majority of that. This probably takes up around 70% of the team’s time spent chasing information and tasks,” she reveals.

By automating these routine tasks, Intuit Accountant Suite allows for a purposeful reclamation of time. “The introduction of AI in this way will be a game changer for our team. They'll be able to free up their time and not do the mundane things and use the AI as their personal assistant,” she explains.

This time is then directly reinvested into deeper client work. “They can then focus on things like building the relationship with the client, understanding what's going on,” she adds.

Upskilling for a strategic future

This shift doesn't just save time; it can change the professional trajectory of the entire team. Eriona views the introduction of AI agents as an essential upskilling opportunity. “What it means is now I need to upskill my team to other services that our clients could need and how they can then use the AI to give a better service,” she says.

This allows staff to finally apply the expertise they studied for. “They're taking their experience that they've had so far and putting that into practice and what they've studied for, and AI will free up that time to allow them to do that,” she notes.

“They're getting upskilled. And it means that I'm free to focus on the strategy of the business.”

When insight stops hiding

Accountants have always had data but it was often hidden within the platform, requiring significant manual effort to extract. “Nowadays the most valuable thing we have is data,” Eriona explains. “With the Intuit Accountant Suite, that client data has been brought forward to us and now we can make decisions a lot faster and do more analysis than before.”

This visibility allows the team to segment clients by industry and compare performance across similar businesses. By seeing who is performing well within a specific sector, the team can provide tailored, data-backed advice.

“Now we can make that difference a lot faster and easier than we have been able to do up until now,” she adds.

The road to proactive advisory

The real impact for a practice occurs when technology enables a proactive, real-time connection. If an anomaly occurs overnight such as a disconnected bank feed or unusual activity, Intuit Accountant Suite flags it immediately.

“It prompts us to be able to call the client and say, 'Hey, we noticed this has happened. It's not usual for your business activity. Is something going on?'"

Eriona says. "Can you imagine if something did happen and the next day your accountant calls you and says, 'Is everything okay?' From that conversation we can say, 'Okay, let's see how we can help you fix this'.” This approach moves the relationship away from annual transactions and towards an "everyday relationship" of ongoing partnership.

Navigating MTD with confidence

Regulatory changes like Making Tax Digital (MTD) often feel like a fire-fighting exercise. Erionas sees Intuit Accountant Suite as a tool to transform compliance from a reactive exercise into a more planned, proactive journey for clients.

“I think the Intuit Accountant Suite will be great for identifying which clients need to be on Making Tax Digital. Who do we need to register ahead of time, who’s likely to be caught by it next year. This means we can start sending them comms and getting them on the journey,” she explains. Having all the information in one place makes a complex process "so much simpler."

One place for confident decisions

As practices scale, fragmentation can often become a hidden cost. For medium to large practices, the "all-in-one" nature of the Suite is "invaluable." “We're not looking at loads of different apps and trying to bring information together to do manual analysis.

Having everything in one place is invaluable in order to make decisions for now and into the future,” Eriona says. This consolidation allows leadership to focus on interpretation rather than administration.

“I feel like we’ve done a full 180,” she says. “We have the tech to help us with some of the standard things. But now let's focus on what we can do better together.”

This shift from retroactive historian to proactive guide is the future of accounting. Intuit Accountant Suite doesn't just automate tasks; it unlocks the strategic potential of the practice and the advisor, turning real-time data into the foundation for trusted, everyday partnerships.

“This new software is an absolute game changer, and it's just showing the pace of change where our industry's heading.”
