With current security issues surrounding spoofing of phone numbers, and other methods, texted codes are no longer secure, and haven't been for some time.
Using the codes from a 2FA app on your phone/device/password manager are far superior, as they rely on the user normally having the device actually in their hands.
I would prefer to disable any texted codes, and instead leave the 2FA Authenticator app as the sole provider for codes.
I see no way to disable my cell phone receiving texted codes.

I see what you're saying. Since the ability to disable text verification codes isn't available, I recommend sending feedback about this to our developers. You can send feedback by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. In the meantime, here's a helpful article with more info on how to: Disable Two-step verification.
