Can a user be both a "Time Tracker" User type, and also a "Standard User" Type?

A client has a user that was first created as a Time Tracker user. They are the new office admin, and they are using the owner's QBO Login to work on QBO. But, for audit report purposes, I want her to log in with her own QBO login. But when I try to click the "Edit" Action next to her user in the user list, I can't change or add to her user type. And the only other option I see in the drop down is "Delete". How do we resolve this? TIA. (QBO Canada, I'm accountant user, viewing user roles).

I've got you covered, @nomij.

QuickBooks only allows you to assign one role for each user. Thus, selecting the Time Tracker and Standard user types for one user isn't available.

As an alternative, you'll want to change their user type from Time Tracker to Standard user type. To do this, you'll have to delete the user with the Time Tracking role and reinvite as a Standard user. Once deleted, please follow the steps below on how to reinvite the user:

  1. On the Manage user page, click Add user.
  2. Select Standard user for their role. Then, click Next.
  3. Choose their access rights, then Next.
  4. Select the user settings and Next.
  5. Enter the name of the user and its email address.
  6. Click Save.

Once done, you can let your user accept the email to get started with their new role. I'm adding this article for more guidance: Add and manage users in QuickBooks Online.

You might also want to read this article: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online. You'll learn about the different options for user roles and access permissions.

Should you need further assistance changing the user's role, I'm available here to help any time! Wishing you all the best, @nomij.

Thanks!  But I do have one more question... Do they have to come up with a different email address to be able to log in and track their time?  Or can it still be the same one?

Thanks so much!
