Can I give a user the permissions to allow them to re-connect disconnected bank accounts, but not allow them to make changes to any data entries?

Hi folks! I have a client whose bank accounts disconnect from QBO, requiring re-verification. This client has access to the bank account, but does not have the QBO user permissions necessary to re-connect these accounts when they disconnect. Typically, we would make these users administrators, so that they can do this. However, the client's security compliance team does not want any users (that are not us, their bookkeepers) to have the permissions that would allow them to alter data entries.

We essentially are looking to provide this user with view-only access for everything, with an exception that allows them to reconnect their bank feeds when they disconnect. Is this possible? If not, is there any way to work around this? Thank you!

Hi seanryan,

Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks Online is a great program that gives you the ability to manage users in your account. I'd be glad to help.

At this time, the program doesn't offer the possibility of selecting a specific section to allow access, such as banking operations. You can review this article about user roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

If you'd like to include the option for users to navigate to specific sections of your choice in QuickBooks, I encourage you to send us Feedback by clicking on the Gear icon at the top. This is sent to our Development Team to consider for future updates.

Let me know if you have questions, I'll be happy to help.

Yes, you can grant a user permission to reconnect disconnected bank accounts without giving them access to modify data entries. This typically involves setting up user roles or permissions in your application or system.

1. User Roles: Create a specific role that has the ability to manage bank connections but restricts access to data modification features.
2. Permission Settings: If your platform allows granular permission settings, ensure the user has the right to manage bank accounts while restricting editing capabilities for data entries.

Always review the documentation for your specific software or system to implement this correctly! For further assistance, you can contact the support team at [Scam number removed].. Thank you!
