I just renewed my subscription... but I wanted to start brand new, all over again. Is this possible or did I just waste money?

You are only allowed to purge your account if it is not 60 days or older. You may open a new blank QBO account and cancel your old one. Ask Support for the refund of the renewal cost you have just paid if eligible.

Hi there dmksafety72,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! I'm glad you've joined us here to seek support on this. I get how starting fresh in your QuickBooks account can make doing your business' books a smoother process, especially if you've entered prior data that you no longer need or want.Luckily there are a few options that you'll be able to review in order to determine how you want to proceed with your subscription. Let me explain.

What @Fiat Lux - ASIA was referring to in their reply above was the option to purge your account. If you're using QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus and your account has been active for less than 90 days, you'll have the option to purge the account, removing all current data so you can start fresh and enter new data going forward. Before you do this, it's important to remember that this cannot be reversed, not even by our support team. Once you've purged your account, the data is gone. If there's anything you need to save, please ensure you Export the relevant Data out of QuickBooks Online before completing the purge. Here's how to purge your account:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online subscription from an internet browser, not the Desktop App.
  2. Update the URL that appears in the browser so that it includes /purgecompany. For example, if it reads https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage you'll want to change it to read https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany.
  3. Review the summary of items that are set to be deleted and confirm you understand by typing Yes and hitting OK

If your account is a QuickBooks Online SimpleStart or Accountant subscription, and is older than 90 days old, you won't have the option I shared above. Instead you can delete your transactions manually in order to clear the account, or cancel your subscription and start over. Since you've just renewed your subscription, it sounds like deleting the transactions would be the better option. If you decide to Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription, please refer to the Plans & Pricing page to start fresh with a new subscription.

Let me know how else I can support you on this. It's important to me that you can make the most of your subscription! Have a great day.
