Let's ensure you can successfully add HST to your customer's invoice, Admin378.
To have HST appear on your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), please verify that the provincial sales tax for New Brunswick (NB) is enabled and configured in your QBO account.
Here’s how to check:
- Navigate to the Sales Tax tab on the left menu.
- Click Manage Sales Tax.
- Confirm whether the HST for New Brunswick has already been added.
If not yet, follow these steps to add a new provincial tax rate:
- Go to the Sales Tax tab and select Manage Sales Tax.
- Click on Add Tax.
- Select the option to Start Tracking in a New Province.

- Complete the setup and click Done to save your settings.
Furthermore, ensure that the New Brunswick provincial sales tax is not marked as inactive.

You can also assign a default tax code to your customer’s profile within QBO. This will automatically apply the correct provincial tax code on invoices. See the graphics below for reference:

If everything appears correct but HST still doesn’t show on your invoices, I recommend clearing your browser’s cache and cookies. Sometimes, outdated or corrupted files interfere with QBO’s functionality, including tax calculations. After that, restart your browser to apply the changes.
