My credit card number was automatically populated into the User ID box on login. Only on quickbooks. Why?

Hello userahutter, 

 

Thank you for reaching out to us in the Community! Using autofill options within your internet browser can simplify logging into different online programs, although sometimes it can lead to incorrect information being entered into fields. It sounds like this is what's occurring when you try to log into your QuickBooks account. Don't worry, I can help you with the autofill settings. 

 

The steps will vary slightly depending on which internet browser you're using. Since Google Chrome is the recommended browser for using QuickBooks Self-Employed, I'll walk you through how to adjust the autofill settings in that browser:

  • In a Google Chrome browser, navigate to the three dots symbol towards the top right of the screen and select Settings.
  • Within Settings, select Autofill from the list on the left hand side. 
  • The autofill settings will be split into three sections; PasswordsPayment Methods, and Addresses and more
  • Go to the Passwords section first, as this is where your saved usernames and passwords are stored. Scroll through the saved passwords looking for Intuit or QuickBooks within the list. Once you locate it, click on the three dots to the right of the site name and select Remove
  • Once this is complete, navigate to the Payment Methods section and review the list to confirm that there isn't anything there related to Intuit QuickBooks. If there is, repeat the steps to Remove it as well. Then close the current browser.  

 

After performing the above steps, open a new Chrome browser and navigate to the log in page for QuickBooks Self-Employed. The page shouldn't populate your credit card number in the field anymore. If the card number does appear, I recommend clearing the browsing data in order to remove lingering data within the browser left from before we adjusted the autofill settings. You can do this by following the steps in this Community article: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks.
