Upgrade from 2017 to 2018

Thanks for using QuickBooks Desktop, dbirse01.

Standalone QuickBooks Desktop has a three-year supported life span. This means that if you're using QuickBooks 2017, you'll be asked to upgrade after three years (2020).

Just a brief background though, after June 1, 2018, access to add-on services will be discontinued for QuickBooks Desktop 2015 only.

Feel free to visit this article for more details: Service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.

Let me know if you need any assistance with QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.

Do you use payroll?  If so, see this:  <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://community.intuit.com/questions/1737597-payroll-update-for-2017">https://community.intuit.com...>

But also see this:  <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://community.intuit.com/questions/1738498-taxtable-update-2018">https://community.intuit.com/qu...>

This is what I was told by support:   Standalone QuickBooks Desktop has a three-year supported life span. This means that if you're using QuickBooks 2017, you'll be asked to upgrade after three years (2020).
So how come I am also told that I have to upgrade to 2018 in order for my  payroll to reflect the changes that have been made by CRA.  I have UPDATED payroll but it does not reflect these changes so do I need to upgrade or can I just get an upgrade for payroll only.  I have looked at the replies but still no further ahead in terms as what to do

Upgrade from 2017 to 2018

Hi dbirse01,

Thanks for your response.

Since you're using QuickBooks Desktop 2017, you'll need to upgrade to QuickBooks 2018 to download the new tax table. Please check this article for more details: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://community.intuit.com/articles/1544654">https://community.intuit.com/articles/1544654</a>.

I'm always here if you have further questions.

Upgrade from 2017 to 2018

I purchased the QB Premier on early 2018, but now I would like to add one more user. Can I purchase additional license? Or do I have t purchase a brand new 2019 version?

@samquattro, you can try calling Intuit to see if they are still selling 2018 (I don't think it works from within your QB anymore).  Other than that, you can get Premier 2018 (1 user) on Amazon for $346.00, Premier 2019 2-user for $549.95 (i.e., for an extra $203.95 you get 2 copies of 2019).

I can buy extra copy of the 2018 premier and add to my system? I thought extra copy of the the product and additional license is not the same thing? Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

Works the same way.  If you buy an additional copy and install, just sync the licenses (via Help menu).
