Hi there bobbie,
Thanks for choosing QuickBooks as your accounting software.
The New Features pop-up you see is one way of letting our customers know the things you can do using QuickBooks. You can simply click the X mark to turn it off.
If there's anything that I can help you with getting around QuickBooks, visit the Community anytime. We're here for you.
QB Pro Desktop. Updated to latest version on January 5, 2021.
The new features tour takes over. Says, "Click anywhere to dismiss." Nope. Crash.
Pathetic this hasn't been fixed after years!!!
There's got to be something else going on. Most people really don't have this issue. (Which I know doesn't help you...)
Sorry to go back to "is it plugged in" but...
It's a pain, but I'd do an uninstall, reboot, install QB2021 again. THEN open a NEW company. Don't worry about filling in all the info, it's just a test so fill in only what you have to.
When the new company opens, can you get rid of the New Features?
Assuming you can. Go to File; Close Company. In the No Company Open box, click on the Open or restore an existing company button at the bottom and follow the prompts to open your company file. Are the New Features gone or if they come back can you get rid of them again?
Run Help; Updates QuickBooks again and hopefully you'll be all set.
Hello again @RealityChex. The suggestions shared above by @Pete_Mc are great and I hope you'll take them into consideration. It's also worth approaching this issue as if there is data damage within your company file. There are several approaches you can take to repair your company file when this happens, and we have a fantastic article that goes over it in detail. Please check it out: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file. Give this a shot to see if it resolves the issues you're experiencing. Contacting our support team outside of the Community is the next step to take in this situation - it'll allow you work in real-time with a customer support expert who has the tools to test and troubleshoot and get you back to business. I wish you all the best!
Great catch @Rebecca R ! That's where I was ultimately going when suggesting starting with a new company and then moving on to the original file. But I never added that to the end of my post.
One other point... After the new "Test" company has been checked, it can be deleted. (Just be sure not to delete the original Company.QBW.)
