I need help to upload my bank account

You can log in to your bank’s website and download your transaction history in CSV, QBO, OFX, or QFX format, ali64. I’ll guide you through the process of uploading them into QuickBooks.

When you upload a bank statement, your file must be in English and no bigger than 350 KB. It should have either 3 columns (Date, Description, Amount) or 4 columns (Date, Description, Credit, and Debit). If your file is too big, choose a shorter date range and download your transactions in smaller groups.

See other important formatting tips below:

  • Remove the word “amount” from Credit and Debit.
  • Leave any cells in Amount, Credit, or Debit that only contain zero (0) blank.
  • Remove numbers from cells in the Description column.
  • Enter all Dates in the same format. We recommend the dd/mm/yyyy format.
  • Some banks add the day of the week in the Date column (for example, 20/11/2018 TUE). Split the date and the day of the week into separate columns.

Once your file is ready, follow these steps to upload it to QuickBooks Online:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the blue tile for your bank account.
Note: If your account isn't connected yet to online banking, select Upload transactions.
  3. In the Select account ▼ dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into.
Note: If you're new to QuickBooks, you may not have an account to upload the transactions into. If you don't see one, select Add new ▼ from the dropdown to create a new bank account.
  4. Upload the account statement file from your computer.
  5. Match the columns in the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
  6. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue.
  7. Click Yes, then select Done.

For more details about uploading a bank statement in QuickBooks, see this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online. I’ll also share this link that will guide you in case you encounter errors when uploading the file into QuickBooks: Fix bank upload errors in QuickBooks Online.

After successfully uploading your transactions, it's recommended to reconcile your accounts monthly to ensure they correspond to your bank statement.

Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser. If the same error persists, use csv2qbo converter tool as a workaround. It's a $60 one time license.
