Can i edit a direct deposit payroll after submitted if before the deadline.

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payroll is an exceptional way of preparing and submitting your payroll seamlessly.  I'll be happy to provide some insight here!

 

When you're paying your staff with direct deposit and an error occurs, you can delete the payroll for an employee and go through the process to run payroll again, immediately or shortly after you hit 'finish payroll'.  

 

Here's how to delete a pay cheque:

 

1. From the left menu open Payroll and then Employees

2. Beneath Run payroll, click Pay cheque list

3. Locate and select the pay to Delete

Note:  If you don't see the option to Delete the item, it's too late to do this from your end

4. Hit Yes to confirm the action

Can I edit the payment amount for an employee or does it have to be deleted and reentered.  I have submitted but it's not due till tomorrow.

Hi Charlie_17. Glad to have you connect with us here. I'll be happy to share more info so you're on the right path with achieving your goals. Normally, you can edit a paycheque if:

  • It's the employee's most recently submitted paycheque.
  • It hasn't been paid to the employee yet.

If this paycheque is manually created, then you can delete and recreate it. If this is a Direct Deposit paycheque, then you can void it.

 

However, if the pay cheque has already been deposited or delivered to the employee, and you made a mistake that needs to be corrected, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. They have the necessary tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and help you process the adjustment.
