Hi lucy-thedentalfi,

 

Welcome to Community!  I can understand the concern when you need to adjust the pay for your employee.  QuickBooks Online Payroll provides the option to ensure you're able to run payroll with the appropriate calculations, so you can pay your staff with confidence.  I'd be happy to assist!

 

There are two options for this situation.  You can decide if you want to pay the balance to your employee by creating a Bonus cheque, or simply proceed to Run payroll for the employee.  Either option enables you to select the appropriate Pay period and Pay date for the employee.  However, it is important to make sure that you change the Direct Deposit option, to Paper cheque.  This way you can pay the employee on the desired date.

Even when I select paper cheque it only allows me to select a pay period 6 months prior. Is there a way to go even further back without doing a bonus cheque?

Thanks for reaching out about your payroll. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a tool able to help you pay your employees for the hours they've worked. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with this prior payroll. 

 

There is a limit as to how far back cheques can be entered in the system, so those cheques for pay periods dated more than six months would need to be entered through a payroll edit request. Once submitted, the pay totals needed will be added by the payroll edits team. In order to start this request process, you can reach out to the support team outside of the Community by using these methods:

 

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
