Do I use Out of Scope tax code for exports to USA and other countries outside Canada?

Hey accounts100,

It's awesome that you're being so proactive in making sure your taxes get recorded accurately. With the advanced tracking based on each individual transaction, the sales tax centre is easily one of the most powerful features offered in QuickBooks Online. The best way to unlock its full potential is by ensuring each transaction is recorded with the correct tax code. The Out of Scope tax code essentially tells the tax centre to ignore a transaction, unlike Zero-Rated and Exempt who are governed by law. For help selecting the correct tax code, please reach out to your accountant or the CRA. This guide by the CRA also includes plenty of great information for common situations: General Information for GST/HST Registrants

Sorting out sales tax is work best suited for an accountant. You can easily invite your accountant as a user to approach this together. To search for a pro in your area, simply head to the My Accountant tab in QuickBooks Online then click on Find a pro to help
