You've made a great choice using QuickBooks Online Payroll to pay your employees and keep tabs on your payroll taxes. Our payroll add-on is easy to use and is a great time saver. I know how important it is to file your taxes on time, so let me give you a hand with filing your payroll taxes.

 

When the time comes to pay your payroll taxes, QuickBooks Online Payroll is where you can go to figure out how much you owe, and to populate the forms that are required for submission to the CRA. You can't remit directly through QuickBooks, that'll still need to be done through the CRA directly, but you can prepare all of the appropriate documentation with QuickBooks. For more information on how to file through the CRA, refer to this link.

 

Since I'm not sure what part of this process you're at, I want to walk you through how to generate some of the payroll forms that you may need prior to filing and paying your taxes. Here's how:

 

  1. Navigate to the Taxes menu on the left and choose Payroll Tax.
  2. Under the Forms section, choose between MonthlyAnnual, or Employer Forms.
  3. Select Monthly Forms if you need to create your Quarterly or Monthly Tax Forms and worksheets, such as a PD7A.
  4. Choose Annual Forms to create T4s for your employees as well as a T4 Summary report.
  5. Lastly, select Employer Forms to create a Record of Employment (ROE) when necessary.

 

Once you've sorted out the correct forms and have distributed them to employees where appropriate, it's time to make a payroll tax payment. Please follow these steps to do so:

 

  1. Navigate back to the Taxes menu and choose Payroll Tax once again.
  2. Hit Pay Taxes. A table will be displayed with your current unpaid tax balances and you'll be warned when your taxes are due.
  3. Choose to Record Payment for the tax you need to pay.
  4. Choose the date that you'll make the payment, add a Cheque Number, and include Notes if applicable. Choosing Earliest is the next available date, which is typically two business days from when the payment is approved. Other lets you pick a specific future date, at least two business days from today. Latest indicates that the payment's going to be processed on the date that it's due.
  5. Once you're ready, choose to Approve and print.
  6. Make sure that your payment has been recorded in QuickBooks Online by navigating to the Reports menu from the left, then locating the Payroll Withholding Amount Payments by using the search function.

 

The process above acts as the money movement within QuickBooks Online, but you'll stil need to pay your remittance to the CRA. If you're not sure how to proceed with this, please check out the articles below:

I'm using QB desktop. Is there a way to make payment payroll tax through QB?

Currently I pay through our online bank account. (file government and pay)

But If I can skip the process to access to bank account, it saves my time.

I can see how keen you are to complete as many tasks as possible with QuickBooks Desktop, and I love the idea. Having a tool that allows you to do it all is a great asset, and being able to pay your payroll liabilities through the program would be equally great. I can elaborate on your options.

 

The response I have for you here is similar to the response I had regarding paying vendors through QuickBooks Desktop, like you asked about on the other thread: you can record your payroll liabilities payment entries in QuickBooks Desktop, but there isn't a way to directly pay the government for those payroll taxes. This article goes over working with payroll taxes in QuickBooks Desktop: Pay or adjust payroll liabilities. Again, you can consider third-party apps or services to complete this task. For instance, the service TelPay is able to sync with QuickBooks Desktop and can handle these kinds of tasks. i used QBO to file and pay the payroll taxes.

QBO and bank account shows the payment oct 10 and OCT 14 BUT my cra online account does not show the amount being paid.

how do i look into the missing payment?

It's vital that all your payroll information is entered correctly for your payroll calculations to be accurate. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help you calculate taxes and can also help you with sending the payment to the government.
