Hi sbilbe,
Welcome to Community! QuickBooks online enables you to file and record your sales tax effortlessly. It's important to review all associated information prior to filing your return to ensure it's accurate. I'd be happy to provide more information, so you can accomplish your sales tax goals in a timely fashion!
When you unfile a tax return, related transactions will be listed under open returns. Payments for the unfiled period won't be affected, as they'll be reapplied to the return once it's filed again. Exceptions are created when transactions have been edited, deleted or added in a previous filing. It's important to make note of these as there isn't a way to bring them back. They become regular transactions for the periods they were recorded in. To learn more about exceptions, click here. Please note that journal entries associated with sales tax filings cannot be changed.
If you require additional assistance, I encourage you to speak with an accounting professional. They'll be able to provide their expertise and best course of action, to ensure a positive outcome on your books. If you don't have an accountant, we can help you locate a ProAdvisor in your local area.
Feel free to reach back out if you have other questions. We'd be glad to help!
