This is the message I am receiving when I try to run the payroll. I Did go back and make this employee active again.
Something you're trying to use has been made inactive. Check the fields with accounts, customers, items, vendors or employees.
Hi gjuurlink,
Change is a part of every business, whether that be locations, products and services or even employees. QuickBooks Online makes it easy to make these adjustments for one employees come back and I'd be happy to help you with this.
When an employee is marked inactive you can make them active again by following these steps.
1. Click the Employees tab on the left menu.
2. Select Inactive Employees from the employee list drop-down menu.
3. Click on the employee you want to make active.
4. Select Edit employee.
5. Choose the Employment tab.
6. Change their status to Active.
7. Click Done.
If you get an error message that's preventing you from making the employee active it could be due to something assigned to that employee is also made as inactive. It's best to make sure this isn't the case by checking everything is set as active that is assigned to that employee. It could also be due to your cache and cookies being damaged or corrupted. This can be fixed by clearing your cache and cookies using the steps in this link. You can also try a new browser or private browser such as Google Chromes Incognito mode.
If you still can't get the employee active it might be due to an issue on the back end. I suggest reaching out to our support team so they can check to see if this is the case. You can get in touch with them using the following options.
Schedule a Callback or Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat. Support is available from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Have a great day!
