Hi @andie787 welcome to the community.
I understand that you want to edit an employee vacation accrual percent in QuickBooks online. It is important for employees to be paid accurately in order for effective management of the books. Here's an article that you might find useful Manage employee vacation pay

Hello andie787. Just to add to the valuable info that SophiaW has shared above, have you tried checking for the vacation balance using a private/incognito window?
This does not answer my question at all. I think you forgot to read the second sentence? I made the change, and the employee's vacation balance was reset to zero. If this is normal behaviour, you may want to update the article you linked to to say that you need to note the vacation accrued prior to making the change and then manually adjust afterwards.
And no, you cannot see the balance in an incognito window. It just resets to zero and needs to be manually adjusted.
Hi Andie787,
Thank you for completing those steps and letting us know if they worked or not. It's essential to ensure that your employees' vacation accrual percentage are properly recorded in your account in order to track them. QuickBooks Online offers a payroll service with the ability to easily enter the vacation accrual percentage of your employees. I'd be happy to provide you with some information on this.
When you have already saved a vacation accrual percentage, changing to the new rate will reset the balance to zero (0). This allows you to enter the balance for the new rate. You can refer to this article to manually re-enter the previous vacation accrued for the employee.
If this is something you'd like to have changed, you can send us Feedback under the Gear icon at the top which is sent to our team developer in the back end to consider for future updates.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help.
You should maybe update your docs to reflect the entire process? Or maybe a warning in the UI that it will be deleted? Question though, let's say I'm changing someone's rate because they are going to start earning more vacation. Why would I want to erase their current vacation balance?
Hello andie787. Thanks for reaching out again. I appreciate your feedback on this matter and I'll be glad to share more info. The system is designed to reset the vacation balance when making the changes described above. If you'd like to see enhancements or improvements regarding this functionality, I recommend sending feedback to our engineers. To do this, click on the Gear icon and click on Feedback.
