Managing Unique Hourly Rates for Time Activities in Payroll

Hello QBO Community,

I run an in-home health care agency, and I use a separate tool to schedule my carers. For each shift, I assign a unique hourly rate for the same employee. For example:

  • On Monday, a carer might earn $20/hour.
  • On Thursday, the same carer might earn $16/hour for a different shift.

These rates are not billable rates for invoicing—they are specific pay rates for payroll purposes.

My Questions:

  1. How can I reflect these unique hourly rates per time activity in QuickBooks Online when running payroll?
  2. Is there a way to manage this dynamically through the QuickBooks Online API?

Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Managing Unique Hourly Rates for Time Activities in Payroll

Hello MatCags123,

Welcome to the Community. I'll be glad to share more info so you're on the right track with recording your transactions.

Entering your transactions the right way is essential for ensuring your books remain accurate. I recommend consulting an accounting specialist for expert advice. This ensures your entries are recorded in a way that allows for you to navigate the program with peace of mind. You can get in touch with an accounting professional using this link here. Other accounting professionals are able to see this post in the Community and this will allow them to chime in.

I also recommend looking into third-party data management apps on our app store www.apps.com

Let me know if this info helps. I'll be a message away.
