My employee started February 1. I started using QB payroll July 1, and entered all past data for payroll and deductions. How do I trigger QB to deduct from my chequing?

It's a pleasure to see you in Community.  Welcome!  QuickBooks Online Payroll is a dynamic way to pay your staff with confidence.  It's essential that your payroll is mapped to the correct account, to ensure your staff is paid on time.  I would be glad to help!

 

If you would like to pay your staff directly from your chequing account, you'll need to complete the steps for direct deposit.  Once you've entered the required elements, you'll need to verify a direct deposit test transaction.  This will be two small debits of less than $1.00 (CAD, charged to your account as a test within 2 - 3 business days.  You can follow this link to get started with setting up direct deposit.  In addition, you can set the account mapping for QuickBooks Online Payroll, by following these steps;

 

1. Open your Settings ⚙ and select Payroll Settings

2. Click on Edit in the Accounting section

3. Open the Edit  to set the accounts for Wage expenses

4. Use the ▼ dropdown menu to make your selection for each item

5. When finished, hit Save.
