How do I over-ride the cpp deduction for an employee?

You have the option to override the employee's contribution to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), as long as you haven't processed payroll, @rvkmb.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll lets you correct employee deductions during a pay run. Here's how to adjust the CPP:

  1. Navigate to the Payroll menu.
  2. Pick Employees, then Run Payroll.
  3. Choose a pay schedule and click Continue.
  4. Pick the employee you want to pay.
  5. Under the Actions column, choose Edit paycheque.
  6. Go to the Employee Taxes section and make the necessary changes under the Canada Pension Plan.
  7. Review the amounts from other items, then hit Save.

On the other hand, once payroll processing is complete, you won't be able to modify this information. What's more, employee year-to-date (YTD) information can also impact CPP deductions.

If you need to update YTD information or have submitted payroll to us, contact our QBO Payroll Live Support team  for assistance. They're the ones who can make the necessary changes, ensuring everything is corrected accurately.
