QuickBooks Online for Canada has a different way in recording the tips, ryland1.
To record the tips given by clients to your employees, you'd have to set up the Gratuity/Tips liability account first.
Here's how:
- Click the Accounting on the left panel.
- Select Chart of Accounts.
- Click the New button in the upper right-hand corner.
- Under Account Type, select Other Current Liabilities.
- Under Detail Type, select Other Current Liabilities as well.
- Enter Gratuity/Tips in the Name field.
- Click Save and close.
Then, record the tips received by your employees using the account you created.
Like this:
- Click the Plus icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Dashboard.
- Under Suppliers, select Cheque.
- Enter the employee's name on the Payee field.
- Choose the bank account to pay the tips from.
- On the Category Details section, enter the Gratuity/Tips account and the amount.
- Click Save and close.
