You’ve come to the right place, @infinitybookkeep.

I can guide you in setting up your worker’s vacation pay rate. Let’s get started.

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings.
  3. Select Pay Schedules.
  4. From the Vacation and Sick Leave Policies section, select Create.
  5. In the Category drop-down menu, click Vacation.
  6. Type in the description that will help you select the correct policy when you set up employees.
  7. In the Vacation Pay field, select whether the vacation is paid out automatically or retained.
  8. Select the frequency that vacation time accrues.
    • At the beginning of the year
    • Each pay period
    • Per hour worked.
    • On anniversary date
  9. Enter the number of hours the employee can earn per year.
  10. Click Ok.

You can refer to this article for more detailed instructions: Payroll tutorial: How to turn on and set up payroll (Set up Vacation Policies).

Keep me posted if you have other questions. I’m just a few clicks away.

We also have a reduced rate for aviation industry of 4%

When I tried the gear icon, there was no option for Payroll Settings - Payroll schedules.

Hi there Roxanne1946,

It's vital that all your employees be paid the right amount of hours. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help you calculate the pay for your employees based on the hours they've worked. I can point you in the right direction to edit an employee's vacation policy.

In order to edit the percentage of vacation for an employee, go to the Payroll tab, then the Employees section. Click on the name of the employee you want to edit, then scroll down to their Vacation Policy section to click on the Edit option for that box.
