Unscheduled payroll error saying I need to setup employees in employee centre

We have been running payroll for for a couple of years out of quickbooks with no issues but after an update we went to do an unscheduled payroll and we got the error message "you need to set up employees before you pay them".  The only option at that point is to go to the employee centre where we already have all of our employees set up?

Thanks for reaching out about your payroll. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you pay your employees for the hours they've worked. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with this error shown.

 

For assistance with error messages shown when running payroll, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Online support team outside the Community. They'll be able to view your employee setup with you in a secure setting as well as the error itself to make sure you can run payroll for them. You can reach out to them using the methods provided below:

 

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
