How do I customize the cheque format in Pro Desktop?

We have custom cheques provided to us by our Head Office.  They came with the Pay to the Order of line above the amount line whereas Quickbooks prints the amount line on top (which I don't really understand when the screen to write cheques has the payee line on top?)

Also they came pre-printed with the word Date and DDMMYYYY so I don't want Quickbooks to print it again.

How can I change the cheque printing format in Pro Desktop to accomodate these differences?

How do I customize the cheque format in Pro Desktop?

Hello lisa_u,

Welcome back! It's great to have you with us again here in community. I'm happy to go over the cheque printing options with you so you can get to work in QuickBooks Desktop.

Depending on what you're looking for, the options are a bit different. For instance, if you're hoping to customize regular cheques, such as those you'd create through the Write Cheques feature, there isn't a way to customize them at this time.

While pay cheques give you a bit more wiggle room with what you can do to customize them, including what information to show, these also don't accommodate the customization options you're looking for. Here's how you can review those options.

  1. Select Edit from the top menu.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Choose Payroll & Employees.
  4. Click the Company Preferences tab.
  5. Click the Printing Preferences button.

There you'll see the various options available to you.

In the meantime, I recommend taking care of these particular cheques outside of the program in order to make sure the information remains clear and presentable. You can also submit your feedback about these features by going to the Help menu and choosing Send Feedback Online. We love hearing the different ways we can help the program work better for your business needs. Our product developers take these comments into consideration as they make changes to QuickBooks.
